Jennifer
Twelvetrees -
Chair and founder
Women4Resources
Jennifer has many years experience
of working on educational
and community issues focusing
on women’s equality
and empowerment. She has a
particular interest in Africa,
hosting African student placements
and visiting projects in Ghana,
Tanzania, Kenya, Liberia and
Ethiopia. She was one of the
early pioneers promoting specialist
resources for women. These
included provision for women
experiencing violence, asylum
seekers, refugees, black and
ethnic minority women, women’s
groups and specific health |
issues
including HIV/AIDS. At Swansea
University she was involved
in Women’s Studies and
community provision for women
returning to learn and work,
and was visiting tutor in
School of Social Work and
International Development.
She worked as a Voluntary
Sector Manager supporting
voluntary organisations and
training volunteers, and was
a trustee of many different
organisations. Jennifer is
an UnLtd award winner involved
in social entrepreneurial
activities in Wales and Africa.
Jennifer has an M.Sc (Econ)
in Social Policy, Diploma
in Social work, NVQ in Management
specialising in good governance
and is a trained community
mediator. |

Rudo
Aquilina Rushesha
- Trustee
Born
and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa,
Rudo has been living in Swansea,
for over six years now and
loves the diversity this has
given her life. With a Masters
in Business Administration
she has spent 7 years working
for the private sector in
Quality Control, Marketing
and Planning. Since moving
to the UK she has spent the
last 5 years working in development.
She is currently working as
Training and Development Officer
for MEWN Cymru in Swansea
- whose main objective is
to remove barriers to participation
for black and ethnic minority
women in the Welsh |

society focussing on empowering
and up-skilling all women living
in Wales. She is one of the
founder members of Women 4 Resources
and is currently the Secretary
of the organisation. |

Nonn
Vaughan - Treasurer
With a background in management
training in business and the
voluntary sectors, Nonn enjoys
the challenge of managing
the W4R budget, fundraising
and publicity. As a counsellor,
mediator and former teacher
of English as a foreign language
in the Middle East and a teacher
trainer in Europe and the
UK, she is enthusiastic about
the training of women who
were denied an education during
the Liberian civil war, and
sees the projected literacy
project for the women in Liberia
as a priority.

Yvonne
Jardine - Trustee
A founder member
of Women4Resources. Yvonne
is the CEO of The Minority
Ethnic Women’s Network
and former Swansea City Councillor.

Angela
Gorman - Trustee
A Senior Neonatal Nurse for
30yrs. Since 1986, she has
worked on the Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit at the University
Hospital of Wales in Cardiff
where until January 2008,
she was a Senior Sister. Angela
is currently seconded to HFGK
for 3yrs, a role facilitated
by the Welsh Assembly Government
and Cardiff & Vale NHS
Trust, the former organisation
becoming aware in 2007 of
the potential for saving lives
if Angela was able to undertake
her role in a full time capacity.
She is also a trade unionist
and Chair of Cardiff &
Vale Health Branch of UNISON,
taking a significant

in negotiations and consultations
with her employer
at the most senior level, including
the Trust Board. Angela is married
to Mike, a civil servant and
they have three children and
3 grandchildren. |

Barbara
Clark - Trustee
With a background as a writer
and teacher in development
studies, and continuing involvement
in projects in Tanzania, Barbara
is the founder and former
co-director of the Shared
Earth Trust, an environmental
charity committed to sustainable
land-use and the restoration
of biodiversity to the farmed
countryside. A counsellor
and trainer with extensive
leadership and mediation experience,
she currently works in skills
development with senior executives
in the public and private
sector.

Helen
Marshal - Horticultural
Advisor
As director of Gaianlife,
she has brought her knowledge
of the various uses of plants
for sustainable food and medicine.
She has worked in Uganda facilitating
poorer farmers to access vital
seed supplies. Helen now plans
to provide food plant seeds
which will allow women in
Liberia and Kenya a means
of obtaining a balanced diet
to decrease mortality during
childbirth and to address
other problems associated
with malnutrition and vitamin
deficiencies.

Mayne - Advisor-
Health Promotion Co-ordinator
Terence Higgins
Trust Cymru, works extensively
with African women in Swansea
Bernice brings her understanding
of the health problems in
Sub Saharan Africa to the
group.

Dinou - Minutes
Secretary
came from Greece
to Swansea 10 years ago and
is at present completing an
MA in Criminology.

Jeanne
Marshal - Advisor
Artist and photographer -
advisor on the photographic
exhibition and on developing
income generating craft initiatives
for the group in Liberia.
Jeanne’s background
is in the arts, with a degree
in fine art and an HND in
textiles. She has worked in
education for over 20 years
developing and managing courses
within the arts. Apart from
full time education, Jeanne
has been involved in the Embroiderer’s
Guild and Quilter’s
Guild where she has given
talks and run workshops. She
has also been a mentor for
people wanting to become professionals
in their particular arts areas.

Nancy
Lidubwi - Trustee
Special advisor on Micro-finance
and Development
Born in Kenya, Nancy came
to Swansea with a BA honours
in sociology and religious
studies. She achieved an MSc
(econ) in economic and social
development planning and management
from Swansea University. Through
her practical expertise and
academic research, she has
been instrumental in advising
W4R on entrepreneurial development
and microfinance.

Susan
Jumba - Trustee
Susan is Kenyan and holds
a BA degree in Sociology and
Public Administration from
Mohan Lal Sukhadia University,
India and an MSc (Econ) in
Economic and Social Studies
in Development Management
specialising in Governance
and Institutions from Swansea
University.
Susan
has worked with community
organisations, NGOs, government
agencies and civil societies
both in Kenya and UK.

Susan’s
interest is in challenging
gender disparity by helping
women and girls come up to
standard with life’s
trends and expectations by
challenging cultural practices
and norms that relegate women
to poverty and nothingness.
